Pesto (Ham) Florentine Pasta!

Hi all!

Last Saturday I saw some fresh basil at the supermarket so I grabbed a packet (it sells for 1.50SGD a packet at NTUC Fairprice). I remembered stumbling across this wonderful tutorial on handmade pesto from crepesofwrath. Click the link to see how she did it!

It was fairly easy. I omitted pine nuts because I didn't have any. Just chop chop chop chop chop!!

After making the pesto I felt a little lost because I just wanted to make p
esto. So I looked for a pasta recipe and came across this!

So here is my handmade Pesto (Ham) Florentine Pasta (: It was really good. You can really taste the fresh basil and the cheese all fused together in an amazing dish. Moreover, it is really healthy :D

Here's the recipe! adapted from allrecipes.com

Pesto Ham Florentine Pasta
Cooks for 4+

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 4-6 Ham strips
  • 5-6 Spoons of Alfredo Sauce (Prego or Leggo Brand)
  • 2 tablespoons pesto
  • 1 (8 ounce) package dry penne pasta
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan/Romano cheese

Directions

  1. In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook pasta for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente. Rinse under cold water and drain.
  2. In a hot pan, fry the garlic in the olive oil and add in the 2 tablespoons of pesto. Then, add in the Alfredo sauce and mix well. Next, stir in the Ham until everything is well mixed and well cooked.
  3. Add the cooked pasta into the frying pan and mix thoroughly. Once well mixed, remove from heat immediately and serve on a plate.
  4. Garnish with freshly grated cheese and serve!

So this was my dinner (: With a ice cold cup of Ice Lemon Tea. :D

Burp!
