Chocolate Chip and Walnut Cookies
These are -hands down- the best, chocolate chip and walnut cookies I've ever had.
The recipe is very simple, and I took it from trusty ol' AllRecipes. They even have a video tutorial for this! With almost 6000 reviews, it is little wonder that this recipe is a hit.
The important thing with baking cookies - as I have learnt from all my mistakes - is that you should chill the batter right before popping it into the oven. I always wait till I've made my batter before I start to pre-heat the oven. Many websites don't mention this because they do not work with the heat and humidity that is Singapore's weather. The butter melts fast, and I have had several occasions where my cookies melted into one giant cookie in the oven. Chilling the batter helps it to form better in the oven.
Also - take your time to cream the butter and sugar together. For cookies, this is the most important process. I used to be impatient, but now i've learnt my lesson. The batter has to be almost whitish before you add the other important dry ingredients!

Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
Original recipe
makes 4 dozen
1 cup butter,
softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown
sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons
vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose
flour
1 teaspoon baking
soda
2 teaspoons hot
water
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet
chocolate chips
Directions
1. Preheat
oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)
2. Cream
together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the
eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot
water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts.
Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
3. Bake for about 10
minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
