Chocolate Chip and Walnut Cookies

These are -hands down- the best, chocolate chip and walnut cookies I've ever had.

The recipe is very simple, and I took it from trusty ol' AllRecipes. They even have a video tutorial for this! With almost 6000 reviews, it is little wonder that this recipe is a hit.

The important thing with baking cookies - as I have learnt from all my mistakes - is that you should chill the batter right before popping it into the oven. I always wait till I've made my batter before I start to pre-heat the oven. Many websites don't mention this because they do not work with the heat and humidity that is Singapore's weather. The butter melts fast, and I have had several occasions where my cookies melted into one giant cookie in the oven. Chilling the batter helps it to form better in the oven.

Also - take your time to cream the butter and sugar together. For cookies, this is the most important process. I used to be impatient, but now i've learnt my lesson. The batter has to be almost whitish before you add the other important dry ingredients!

Other than that, the recipe is below:

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

3. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.

To those of you who have not discovered the wonderful Ted-Ed - they make short animated documentaries on complex theories and day-to-day essentials! I personally really loved this video on the science of cookies. Enjoy!
