Melt the World Restaurant Buffet
What a feast. Clarence and I, being foodie-fans as typical Singaporeans, made a trip to Melt the World restaurant today for a buffet treat! I first saw this restaurant on ladyironchef and read subsequent online reviews and decided that it'd be worth a try.
I had a good time and ate a lot. Although it would have been great if their outdoor grill was open as well. But i guess my tummy wouldn't have space anyway (: Not a great fan of seafood/shellfish so it was okay for us to miss their shellfish menu. However, seafood fans, if you want alaskan crab, lobster, oysters and all that, make your trip for dinner (:
We had a pretty decent strategy.. try everything first then hoard what we thought was good. Unfortunately by the time we finished trying everything we were too full to take another bite.
We started off with their Sashimi (: It was great.. very fresh and I love that they serve swordfish. I enjoyed it. But this was only good for us cause we were there early and had the opportunity to eat it while it was realllyyy fresh. Afterwards when we tried again it wasn't as good anymore..
I know some of you may call me silly for trying their salad but I tried anyway. It was good. I love the fact that everything is DIY. I had lettuce, rockets drizzled in red wine vinegar. They had 5-9 different types of sauces for you to pick from and tried all! Best salad sauces i've tried, ever.
For their appetizers they had a lot of duck. Almost everything had duck in it. I'm not a fan of duck but Clarence said it was reallllyyy good. We both agreed that the smoke salmon was the best. Now i kinda wished i went for more!
Lamb with yogurt and tandoori chicken (: The tandoori chicken was really good. The lamb was good although I personally don't like lamb/veal meat.
I love the fact that they offer an indian section but i wished it was much better. None the less, it's worth trying at least a plate. Their mutton and fish curry was probably the best out of everything.
I never really bother trying their stir-fried dishes at buffets because they always disappoint. This time round it was not much different. Their fish was rather bland but their chicken and beef was reallllly good. Didn't take any rice because didn't want to fill tummy unnecessarily (:
Some biscuits and cheese for me to end of my main course!
Finally, the best part of the entire buffet - their desserts. Their chocolate fondue is wonderful. It tasted like bitter milk chocolate wonder. What i loved the best is their belgian waffles. They make it for you on the spot, and top it off with ice cream of your choice! we only tried yam and caramel..
Okay i'll let the pictures do the work. The dessert section was absolutely to die for. We didn't even have enough tummy space for everything.
I paid 130 for two after GST and service charge. Service was excellent and they constantly refill your water and clear your plates. Very friendly staff who is always smiling! When you first arrive, they will give you a tour if it's your first time there.
The buffet lasts from 12- 2.30. Plenty of time for eating. I would suggest to drink less water! Wish i did. Melt the World Restaurant is at Mandarin Oriental. The hotel is beautiful so - if you have the chance, don't miss this opportunity to feast out!
